In the 1980s I saw what I thought was a snow-globe of Los Angeles, the Hollywood Hills and even a tiny version of the Hollywood sign. When no one was looking I picked it up and shook it.
The water inside filled with a haze of brown soot and smoke particles that turned the previously brilliantly blue background of the sky a light brown, and only then I saw that the base of the wet diorama within was covered in a tangle of tiny black strips… freeways, and even littler cars that had been previously concealed by all the crap now suspended in the water column, as a stand-in for the air that they were, ironically or appropriately, responsible for, which then rained down on them, slowly, over the course of several minutes.
I was too young to understand it at the time, but the basic idea was not completely lost on me, even then. When I would look to the northeast from a high spot in a local park near my home, growing up, the sky had a distinctly brown band near, but definitely above the horizon. I once asked my mother what it was, and she replied, simply… “Los Angeles.”
The “Global” Report service issued this warning.

Just beware of severe drought…

Buni can be so unintentionally cruel at times.
