Ryan Pagelow has been drawing comic strips for most of his life. His work has appeared in several newspapers, online sites and Mad magazine. When not drawing he is a photographer and lives with his wife, son and daughter in Chicago.
Ryan can be reached at: bunicomic (a) gmail (.) com.
I now draw on a Wacom Mobile Studio Pro. I sketch it first in a light gray layer, then I go over it in a darker gray layer. Then I draw it for real in black on a separate layer and color it. I upload it to Dropbox to then open it on my desktop computer where I then format the comic for print, websites and social media. I used to draw in blue pencil and a Rapidograph pen (.08 nib) on bristol paper and then scan it and color it in Photoshop. Good luck with your comics!
I recently found your strip thanks to webtoons, and I love it. He’s desperate/delusional, depressed and yet lives in his world of rainbows and happy thoughts. Thank you for creating this.
Thanks for reading!
Hi Ryan,
Just wanted to say I’ve been a fan of Buni for sometimes now and I’d like to support you. Any chance of you opening up a Pateron account soon, or do you get a better ‘rate’ via merch sales? Could you let me know one way or other before the merch sale time please?
Also got a plan for an Insta acc too?
Thanks & stay safe!
Thanks for reading Buni! I’m hoping to set up on a Patreon account soon with some exclusive content. I’ve also had an Instagram account for a long time. You can find it at @bunicomic. Thanks again!
Cute!!! I am planning to buy the book soon!
Hey, Ryan, I loved the way your comics brought up the little things in life in a way that really made us smile. Or feel bad for smiling. I have been following Hapi Buni since 2018 but forgot about it until I was scrolling through my webtoon subs recently, and only had 3 episodes left. That was saddening, but also kinda cool to see how I had seen the entirety of an artist’s work at something that so many people enjoyed, so I just wanted to say thanks again for making it.
Thanks!
I love Hapi Buni! Do you have any other projects?
I am currently working on a new comic project, but it is not ready to be released yet. Thanks for reading Hapi Buni!
I am curious about my ancestry. I am a Pagelow by birth and always curious when I see my surname on line. My family is from Wisconsin. Originally Racine area but moved to Beloit Wisconsin in the 1940’s.
just found this comic nice to see my name that i grew up getting teased for and people telling me to change my name to a less ethnic one it nice to see a comic that feels like it was made for me
Does Buni have any friends, apart from Buni Dad and Dogi?
Ryan is very good at showing the emotion of the characters through drawing their eyes
Hi sir Ryan. I love your “silent” comics. I am also a cartoonist, and my comic strips are publish in our local newspaper, mostly with dialogs.
I am curious, can you teach me how to make comic strips without dialogs, like your Buni Comics?
Thanks in advanced.
Alvin Paul
