Honestly, the vegetable table seems like they’re having more fun — that is, more genuine fun with each other. I’m sure the tomato will be welcomed there, and will probably enjoy it more than being at the fruit table.

Alternatively; tomato essentially is fruit, but is always sold and used as vegetable, not fruit
