In truth, I think we’re looking at an update progress-bar for a while, with all of us just holding our collective breath and hoping that the update is able to install correctly, since the old OS is notoriously flaky and there’s a suggestion that it might try to prevent any update from removing it… it may even crash and wreck the system when it detects it is being uninstalled… basically, what Buni seems to be doing is updating the OS to clear out some crippling malware the previous version got corrupted with. I hope the update is successful, as do most users of the same system, and even people using a completely different OS. Or am I reading too much into it?
Also… even once the new OS installs, not to be a Debbie Downer… but once installed, all the software left over will have to be added to the registry, a WHOLE BUNCH of the applications will prove incompatible, and the network may try to prevent some of those installations from happening, depending on whether they continue to use the same one that made the old, failed OS, or if they switch providers to one that’s basically guaranteed compatible with the one being installed. The good news, though, is that we know the device drivers work because this OS was installed before on a backup system for 8 straight years, so it should be able to run the main system with little trouble.
(Or, again, am I reading into the comic something that isn’t actually there? 🙂 I’ve done that on occasion.)
Alternate 4th panel: An endless void of nonexistence.
